Important Notice:

Effective March 2, 2026, emails will no longer be an accepted form of attendance reporting. You must report your child's absence, late arrival or early departure by calling the Attendance Secretary or using the Power School Parent Portal (available March 2).

You are requested to notify the school by 9:15 A.M.
If a call is made, the parent/guardian must also submit a written note explaining the absence within three (3) days.
Please include your child’s name, grade, teacher’s name and the SPECIFIC reason for the absence. It is requested that no additional information be placed on the voicemail or email.
Students are not allowed to report themselves absent.

Absences From School

An absence is defined as a student's nonattendance on a day school is in session.

Excused Absence: Excused absence refers to an absence for legal reasons. Legal absences may be classified into two groups: nonattendance due to unpreventable causes and nonattendance due to other legal reasons. Excuse notes will need to be received within three (3) days of the absence.

A student's absence is considered excused for the following reasons:

Illness
Family emergency
Death of a family member
Medical or dental appointments
Authorized school activities
Religious holidays
Court appearances

Unexcused Absence: School policy defines an unexcused absence as one that occurs when no excuse note from a parent or guardian has been provided to the school.

A student's absence is considered unexcused (regardless of excuse note) for the following reasons:

Oversleeping
Missing the bus
Family vacations without prior approval

Tardiness

Tardiness is defined as the absence of a student at the beginning of any morning or afternoon session, provided the student is in attendance before the close of that session.

Excused Tardiness: Absence of a student at the beginning of any morning or afternoon session due to any of the reasons that may be excused for a full-day absence.

Unexcused Tardiness: Lateness for any reason that does not qualify as "Excused Tardiness."

Early Departure

A signed note or a Power School Portal submission with reason for early dismissal must be sent in by the parent/guardian.
Student reports to the Attendance Office during or before first period to present the note.
An electronic pass will be issued to the student for the requested time.
Student goes to his/her locker (if applicable), reports to the Main Office, and remains until parent arrives.
Parent/Guardian indicated on the early dismissal note must come into the building to sign out the student.
